Yes! Acupuncture Really helps with Fibromyalgia

What Can Acupuncture Help?

Acupuncture helps the Fibromyalgia patient with aching pain in their muscles and joint pain which often accompanies muscle aches. Acupuncture is good at treating pain, even when the pain comes and goes and moves around from place to place.  Acupuncture is good at treating many types of pain, whether due to injury, genetics, congenital (born with), a diagnosed disease or syndrome or for unknown cause.

  • Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Low Mood

Acupuncture can also help with low energy, fatigue and low mood which is often a part of the pain syndrome called Fibromyalgia.

Acupuncture helps muscle pain and joint pain. Many patients with R.A. get relief with acupuncture for their joint pain.

Read How Acupuncture Can Help Joint Pain Here

Acupuncture helps relieve pain and improve mood and energy by helping your body to balance itself. So, the needles do about 20% of the work while your body does the other 80%. Isn’t the body a miraculous thing? It truly wants to get better. Acupuncture can help your body get there. Acupuncture does not cure Fibromyalgia, though it can help you on on your journey of wellness to enjoy a smoother ride with less bumps of aches and pains.

Acupuncture Improves Quality of Life!

Patients come to appointments more frequently at first, then appointments are spread out further and further over time with the same outcome of decreased pain and increased energy and mood. This is because acupuncture builds up within your body with each treatment. Usually patients will come in once or twice per week at first and end up coming in once per month or even once every eight weeks with the same sustained relief that once lasted a few days!

Many find they are able get more done in their day and are able to be more socially active with the added energy and decreased pain after acupuncture treatments! Some patients are happy to finally be able to attend baseball games which they were unable to endure before acupuncture. Others can do hours of gardening or complete their daily household tasks without needing to rest or nap. Many patients have tapered down to taking less daily pain medications and some have even stopped taking their pain medications (under doctor supervision) since having acupuncture treatment.

  • More Physical Activity
  • Increased Social Activity
  • Same Results, Less treatments over time

Suffering with Nausea During Your 1st Trimester of Pregnancy?  You NEED Acupuncture!

(Aleesha D Acupuncture also helps Patients Suffering Nausea Due to Cancer Treatments)!

Read How Acupuncture Helps Nausea and Other Side Effects Due to Chemotherapy Here

Why Get Acupuncture for Nausea:

  • Relief of Nausea/ Vomit
  • Improved Appetite
  • Improved Energy
  • Improved Mood
  • Improved Sleep

Nausea makes it difficult to eat regularly and to choose nutrient-rich foods. Just like when we suffer with the flu, we just try to eat a small bite of bland, easy-to-digest snack foods like crackers. This is not the way to feed a pregnancy! Your body needs EXTRA food with even MORE NUTRITION than ever before!

This is your body’s #1 job now.

Acupuncture is also very useful for improving overall energy, mood and sleep, all of which are decreased during pregnancy!

Acupuncture Treats Facial Wrinkles, too.

Other Tools in Your Acupuncturist’s Tool Box for Nausea:

  • Pressure point beads applied to wrists to take home
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Food Therapy
  • Lifestyle Recommendations (based on individual patient intake)

Some licensed acupuncturists will give beads to wear home over the wrists for a sort-of extended treatment. The patient suffering with symptoms of nausea is usually pretty grateful for this as it allows for a steady appetite and better ability to function with everyday tasks.

Some foods/ teas/ herbs may be recommended for nausea to supplement with or to avoid during the first trimester.

(Many find either Ginger tea or Peppermint tea is helpful to relieve Nausea)

Lifestyle recommendations may be made by your acupuncturist, in addition to diet recommendations.

Remember, your body is doing A LOT right now!

Respect your body and yourself. Do NOT over do it.

Aleesha D Acupuncture will help you get through morning sickness during the first trimester and beyond. Acupuncture continues to be good during pregnancy and afterward for improving your body’s overall Qi. This is because during pregnancy, the body’s Qi (Energy) becomes stagnated. Pregnant patients feeling Qi Stagnation often complain of feeling tired and fatigue which is worse with stress and inactivity.

Well, Acupuncture DOES Help Lower Stress & Fatigue!

Common Symptoms of Qi Stagnation:

  • Irritability/ Mood swings
  • Bitter taste
  • Fatigue

Fluctuations are natural during changes in hormone levels in our lives; during puberty, pregnancy, nursing (breast-feeding), peri-menopause, menopause and even post-menopause. Often times stress worsens these hormonal changes, making the transition more difficult and stressful than it needs to be. The Difference between Probiotics and Prebiotics is…

PRObiotics:

You probably already know that Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria in your gut. So, what the heck are Prebiotics, then?

PREbiotics:

What are Prebiotics?

PREbiotics are made up of substances like indigestible fiber and fermentable carbohydrates.

These fibers and carbs are broken down later on in digestion…

PRObiotics like sauerkraut, a fermented food, have a sort of symbiotic relationship with PREbiotics substances. They work together.

PREbiotics are not broken down by enzymes or gastric juices (stomach acids) and survive the journey through the GI tract, past the stomach, to the small intestine.

Function of PREbiotics:

Prebiotics are what FEED the Probiotics. They are like fertilizer.

Prebiotics are like fertilizer you use in your garden (or gut) to help everything grow, flourish and remain healthy.

Pros of Prebiotics:

  • Less inflammation
  • Less hunger (fiber lasts longer)
  • Strengthens intestinal wall (good for leaky gut and auto immune disease)

Basically, the end result is that digestion works better with Prebiotics and Probiotics working together to improve digestion. Prebiotics along with Probiotics, help lower indigestion and inflammation. Obviously, this can help poor digestion, low energy and is good to know for anyone looking to eat a low inflammation diet.

How to Add Prebiotics to Diet:

Prebiotics are found in plants, some more than others. Include these often in the diet…

Which Type of Magnesium Should I Take?

The type of magnesium depends on digestive symptoms…

Take Magnesium Citrate to help with Mood, Energy and Constipation. Magnesium Citrate is the magnesium type that is actually prescribed at the hospital to help get things moving again after surgery and the medications given that both can cause constipation. If taking for constipation, back off the dosage if diarrhea results. Too much Magnesium (just like too much vitamin C) can cause diarrhea. It can be a good way to measure the threshold of how much Magnesium (Citrate) to take.

Take Magnesium Glycinate to help with Mood and Energy if you already have regular, daily bowel movements. Taking the Citrate form when you are already having regular, daily bowel movements will probably result in loose stool and possibly diarrhea.

Why Can’t I Just Eat Magnesium-Rich Foods Instead?

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get enough Magnesium in our foods now days. This is because the soil which the normally Magnesium-rich foods grow in are deficient of Magnesium due to conventional fertilizers, over-tilling the soil, and not rotating crops appropriately. The roots of plants cannot pull up out of the ground what is just not there. So, the food is devoid of Magnesium.

Wouldn’t Low Magnesium Show in my Labs?

Less than 1% of Magnesium is found in the blood, so this is not the best way to test if you are getting enough Magnesium.

Checking the Signs and Symptoms above is a better way.

Why is Magnesium So Important?

Helps with Vitamin D absorption (which you need to absorb Calcium)

Lower Cholesterol Serum &Triglycerides

Aids Digestion of Carbohydrates

Helps Metabolism (and Weight loss)
